Dulux Colour of the Year 2021
Brown is the new black. Dulux colour experts have opted for a warm, earthy tone “Brave Ground” as their colour of the year. Hot on the sustainability trend as grungy, earthy colours are making a comeback! This shade is perfect for a muted, eco-chic look, that will keep your home in fashion for years to come.
Try upholstering in mellow plain fabric (like our beautiful Perth Textured Weave Fabric in Oak) and decorate with some Velvet Cushions in Flax or Oxford Stripe Flax. Add our Haverford Stair Runner to get that organic edge that everyone is on on the hunt for right now.
Pantone Colour of the Year 2021
This year, Pantone have taken a unique approach in choosing a marriage of colour: an enduring “Ultimate Gray” and vibrant “Illuminating” yellow. This quirky message of fortitude and hope symbolises the resilience of the human spirit – with the cheerful twist we all know we needed.
To achieve a tasteful interior using this combination, make the most of the grey tones in the majority of your room. Take inspiration from our gorgeous range of grey wallpapers to create the foundations for the look. Add a traditional touch by covering your upholstery in our patterned Gisburn Wool in Grey and layer on some quality cushions in Forfar Mid Grey, Perth Light Grey and Arran Mid Grey.
Don’t be put off by the yellow’s boldness – use sparingly to add bursts of uplifting accents to the neutral palette. Stick with us for a sophisticated take on Pantone’s “Illuminating” colour by choosing warmer mustard tones. Our textured plain in 1485 Herringbone Mead would make a great statement cushion, or opt for a subtle design using Laughton Mead or Cawood Mead.
Sherwin Williams Colour of the Year 2021
In a similar theme to Dulux, Sherwin Williams have elected a nature-inspired “Urbane Bronze” as their chosen colour of the year, with a dark, elegant tone. They suggest that this colour’s natural rooted energy cultivates a sense of calm into your room and can be used to mix with similar neutrals for a minimalist vibe, or integrated with other organic colours to add a hint of boldness.
Make a sophisticated statement by reupholstering your sofa in this tone with our textured Perth Fabric in Walnut. If you’re a bit more cautious when it comes to dark colours, try out a few scatter cushions mixed with lighter tones first: we find a blend of Perth Graphite and Wheat works beautifully with the walnut shade.
PPG Colour Palette of the Year 2021
PPG selected a trio of colours for their 2021 trend to make “home feel even more like home”. The gorgeous “Be Well” palette features nostalgic earthy tones in warm beige “Transcend”, shaded ginger “Big Cypress” and cerulean blue “Misty Aqua”. Perfectly aligning with the natural theme, this 2021 colour trend is the epitome of organic chic.
Our Landmark Trust 1485 collection is the perfect traditional take on this modern palette. Our Russet colourway is a gorgeous muted orange similar to “Big Cypress” and would present beautifully on an upholstered sofa. Drape over an organic Striped Fringed Throw in Parchment for a cosy addition in a shade alike “Transcend”. Add a burst of blue with a few scatter cushions in our Peake’s Check Monarch Blue to complete the palette. 2021 is the year for settling in. Soothing shades bringing you closer to nature in an organic, sustainable style is the new must for a comfortable home. Don’t forget to add subtle bursts of colour to keep your spirits high.
